Hi HL. That’s great, Hereford is a good set up. Firstly don’t worry. There is no expectation, people are just asked to give what they can if they feel they benefited from it. No one comes round to ask for money and there is zero pressure. There is not even a recommended amount. If you are low on money now but feel you benefited from the course you can always donate later when you have more, or even better, volunteer at a course later and help with the running of it. I hope that helps. Good luck on your first course, I wish you all the best! 😀
]]>I’m going to Hereford next month to do the 10-day retreat for the first time. I’m struggling to get an understanding how much are people expected to donate at the end of the course? I’m currently not working so conscious of expenses but at the same time don’t want to be disrespectful. Is it like £10, £20/per day or more? Any help would be appreciated!
]]>Thanks for reading Anil, let’s hope some first timers have beneficial courses!
]]>Good advice P Graham, back straight and metaphorical chin up – actual chin slightly tucked in – wouldn’t want to lose our posture now would we!

]]>Late reply! But books I would recommend, probably my two favourites on the topic:
The Power Of Now – Eckhart Tolle
Peace Is Every Step – Thich Nhat Hanh
Thank you! I’ve done mine at Dhamma Pala in the Philippines. I want to try one of the centers in Myanmar where the practice of Vipassana was revived, maybe someday. 🙂
